How long does the denture process take?

The process for implant-supported dentures can be completed in as little as two to three appointments to our office in Durango, CO. After your consultation, custom-made dental implants will be secured to the jawbone, taking about three to six months to heal.

Once they’re ready, you’ll return for your second appointment where we’ll place a dental crown on top of each implant. These are worn for about two weeks, then the crowns are replaced with abutments. If it’s a good fit, your teeth will be permanently secured in place.

Are there complications associated with dentures?

Possible complications related to dentures can be prevented by maintaining good oral hygiene. This means using a soft-bristled toothbrush at least twice a day and flossing regularly. It’s also important to come in to West Dental Implants & Prosthetics for routine check-ups and cleanings every six months. However, complications that may occur include:

  • Difficulty chewing or speaking
  • Dentures that slip or move around
  • Oral infection
  • Gum or mouth irritation
  • Clicking while eating

The cost of dentures, specifically implant-supported dentures, can range anywhere from $300 to $5,000 depending on several factors.
